The Football Club - El-kanemi Warriors is among the professional football clubs in Nigeria resident in the city of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State Nigeria.

The football club was founded in the 1980’s precisely in the year 1986 and makes use of El-kanemi Stadium as their football training ground and other sporting activities while at home.

The club has participated in various soccer tournaments and championships since its inception, winning and losing in some games but has generally made the club proud and still works hard to make the club better.

At the very end of the 2005 football season, the club’s position in the Nigeria Premier League was at the lower half, and two years after which is 2007 precisely, the club was relegated to Nigeria Division 1 in the league position.

Throughout the subsequent years, the club has made serious attempt to be promoted to a higher level, and in the year 2012, they were successfully promoted to the Nigeria Premier League top level.

The football club started facing some challenges which are as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency which affected most of their games especially home-based games, so instead of playing in their stadium they have to play their matches in other cities like in 2014, when they played their home matches in Kano, and the subsequent years, they hosted their matches in Kastina from the year 2015 - 2016 making use of their stadium - Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

In the year 2017, when the insurgency has died down, the club has to return to their base in El-Kanemi Stadium in Maiduguri to continue their football activities, and on the 17th of October the same year the club signed a new coach by name Imama Amapakabo on a year deal, he was formerly the coach of Enugu Rangers Football club.
